Finance Internship
Concern Worldwide wishes to recruit a young intern for the Finance Department. The person will be based in Huye.
The intern will report directly to the Finance & Administration Manager.
This exciting short-term position is for recent graduates who wish to start their career in Finance.
The internship will last a maximum of 6 months. The internship will not be extended beyond this period and Concern does not guarantee a job offer to an intern as part of its internship program.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
All responsibilities must be carried out in accordance with Concern Worldwide's policies and procedures as well as Rwanda's national law. In particular: accounting guidelines found in Concern Rwanda's Financial Policies and Procedures Manual, Delegation of Authority, Logistics Manual, Human Resources Manual, and Transportation Manual.
Specifically, the intern will be responsible to:
- Support the finance team in filing and archiving accounting documents.
- Assist the finance team in making payments in the field and in Huye,
- Support the finance team in recording accounting transactions in the cash or bank journals, Verify payment records and ensure that they are correct and accurate prior to payment. work with the finance team in monitoring advances,
- Support the Finance Manager during the donor audit that will take place in 2024.
- Support the finance team in the declaration/payment of taxes,
- Assist the Cashier in the preparation of cheques and other related documents,
- Support the finance team in preparing the monthly cash request,
- Assist the finance team in collecting and filing time sheets,
- Support the finance team in the verification of partner accounting documents.
During the internship, the intern will be required to comply with Concern worldwide standards and policies, among others:
- Contribute to Concern's accountability, including organizational and personal learning, information sharing according to the Rwanda Information Strategy, implementation and management of an effective complaints mechanism, promotion of beneficiary participation in the program as well as Concern's commitments to the HAP (Humanitarian Accountability Partnership), beneficiary participation in the program and Concern's commitments to the HAP (Humanitarian Accountability Partnership).
- Adhere fully to the commitments and regulations set out in the code of conduct and associated policies (Program Participant Protection Policy (P4), Anti-Trafficking Policy, Child Protection Policy), including respect for confidentiality and the Anti-Fraud Policy.
- Carry out any other relevant and reasonable tasks as requested by the line manager, such as acting in the interim during periods of absence or annual leave.
- Master and comply with existing Concern Worldwide Rwanda security policies.
Qualifications, experience and skills required
Essential:
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Financial Management.
- Completion of at least one academic internship.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of Accounting.
- Perfect knowledge of English
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and e-mail skills;
- Ability to learn new methods;
- Ability to implement Concern's policies and procedures to ensure effective and efficient support of the organization's objectives;
- Good interpersonal, organizational and time management skills;
- Ability to maintain the utmost discretion and confidentiality;
- Flexibility regarding working hours and days, and willingness to travel on business throughout Rwanda.
