Nutrition Intern
World Vision is a child-focused Christian humanitarian organization implementing development programmes in 30 Districts of Rwanda. Our interventions in the strategic period of 2021-2025 seek to reach 2 million of the most vulnerable children. This is done through programming in Resilience and Livelihoods, WASH and Health, Child Protection and Education.
World Vision Rwanda seeks to hire a qualified, dedicated, and passionate Rwandan national for the role of Nutrition Intern (Professional), based in the Rutsiro district joining an established and experienced team. Purpose of the internship:
The role of the Intern is to provide technical support to Rutsiro district nutrition projects under Tunga Cluster management with acceptable standards done effectively and efficiently.
The intern will also represent World Vision Rwanda in relevant DPEM meetings and maintain key relationships and partnerships with other local and international NGOs/partners in the district
The candidate is expected to exhibit and communicate World Vision's Values and Christian ethos and demonstrate a spiritual life that stands above any denominational beliefs.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Major Activities
- Provide technical support to Rutsiro district nutrition projects
- Coordinate nutrition interventions at the HCs level according to World Vision Rwanda, MoH, and other internationally recognized standards relevant to the NO strategies
- Actively represent World Vision Rwanda in relevant DPEM meetings and maintain key relationships and partnerships with other local and international NGOs/partners in the district
- Mentor and build the capacity of health center staff in sector-related skills
- Participate in the preparation of health and nutrition technical program-related business plans, annual plans, and operating reports for WVR in the assigned area
- Build strong partnerships with Government, UN agencies, NGOs, research institutes, and other community stakeholders that will complement WVR’s Health and nutrition-related plans
- Contribute to the mainstreaming of cross-cutting issues in all WVR Health and nutrition projects, in particular the integration of child protection, disability, and gender. Ensure focus on Child Well-being outcomes
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Bachelor’s degree in human nutrition, public health, community health, environmental health, or related discipline
- Proficiency in Kinyarwanda and English. French is an added value
- Ability to build effective teams, promote coordination and collaboration
- The position holder must be results-oriented
- Having negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Well-developed interpersonal humility
- Strong communication skills
- Should be computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other software packages
Other Competencies/Attributes:
- Ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be a committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities
Physical Requirements:
The person will be required to work and report at the Rwanda World Vision Rwanda Based in Tunga Cluster in Rutsiro district.
