20 Economist Interns for The Macroeconomic Investment Policies (MIP) program

The German Society for International collaboration (GIZ) GmbH is a federally owned global enterprise promoting international collaboration for sustainable development. For more than 30 years, GIZ has operated in Rwanda. The Federal Republic of Germany and the Government of Rwanda share the twin goals of promoting sustainable development and reducing poverty. GIZ Rwanda is involved in the governance, climate & energy, sustainable growth, and digitalization sectors to meet these goals.

The Macroeconomic Investment Policies (MIP) program is an initiative of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Government of Rwanda for Development Cooperation (GIZ). In five areas—public investment planning and implementation, macroeconomic modeling, the promotion of evidence-based tax policy, strengthening research and policy dialogue, and supporting the implementation of the Rwanda Sustainable Finance Roadmap's chosen components—the project seeks to strengthen both individual and institutional capacities for economic analyses and evidence-based policymaking.

The National Bank of Rwanda (BNR), the National Institute for Statistics Rwanda (NISR), and the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning (MINECOFIN) are implementing the Young Economist Program (YEP) with support from the GIZ Macroeconomic and Investment Policies project (MIP). YEP, which is available to recent graduates with a Bachelor's degree in economics, enables young professionals to get job experience, improve their applied research abilities, and bring new perspectives and research skills to the practical context of economic policy and planning.

GIZ-MIP is looking for highly qualified and enthusiastic recent economics graduates who are enthusiastic about working as six-month interns at MINECOFIN and other public institutions.
