the Young Professionals Program's description
The Young Professionals Program at One Acre Fund provides accomplished African graduates with valuable internship and training opportunities at a successful, mission-driven company. All interns may anticipate receiving meaningful work assignments working on high-impact initiatives that support One Acre Fund's activities. Our internships are paid.
Interns will engage in an onboarding program and receive training on how to plan and carry out projects when they first start. Throughout your internship, you will have the chance to collaborate with others who share your interests and take advantage of learning opportunities to lay solid career foundations.
About the Role
The One Acre Fund is looking for interns to work in our Kigali office. One Acre Fund borrows money to pay for working capital needs while simultaneously depending on grant money to cover our operational shortfall. You will assist the One Acre Fund investor relations team, which handles our debt requirements, finds and cultivates partnerships with lenders, and does various cash flow modeling to guide borrowing decisions. Both in NY, USA, and Kigali, Rwanda, the Investor Relations (IR) staff is headquartered. You will work remotely with the team members in the US and report directly to the Senior Investor Relations Specialist in Kigali.
Responsibilities
- Loan Compliance and Reporting: You will assist in putting out our quarterly lender report, which will include analysis of One Acre Fund's performance in comparison to plan. Along with helping the Investor Relations team with interest payments and monitoring surveys, you will also help with other loan compliance activities.
- Lender Relationship Management Support and Due Diligence: In order to support due diligence and proposal submissions, you will develop information for lenders. Financial data and operational summaries will be included in the materials.
- Analytical Special Projects: You will assist initiatives including data analysis and financial modeling.

Qualifications
These are the fundamental qualifications we search for across all roles. Particularly for this position, you will have:
- Good accounting and finance knowledge; some experience with financial statement analysis.
- High achievement in finance, accounting, and business management during undergraduate studies
- Understanding of sophisticated Excel formulas, such as Index, Match, SUMIFS, and Lookups, for data analysis
- Strong informational communication skills in writing, speaking, and via email; Ability to clearly combine information to aid lenders in understanding One Acre Fund's operations.
