Reporting to the Head, Infrastructure, the Security Operations Analyst will be responsible for protecting the organization against cyber threats and maintaining secure operations, monitoring, detecting, and responding to security incidents, implementing and managing security solutions, and ensuring the organization's overall cybersecurity posture is robust and up-to-date.
About RSSB
The Rwanda Social Security Board (RSSB) has the mandate to manage and promote social security in Rwanda. RSSB's vision is to provide a comprehensive social security system that caters to the diverse social security needs of the population, RSSB plays an important role in realizing Vision 2050 and the National Strategy for Transformation (NST1). RSSB manages six social security schemes, namely: Pension, Occupational Hazards, Medical scheme, CBHI, Maternity Leave Benefits and EjoHeza (Long-term Term Saving Scheme).
As a leading player in the financial sector, RSSB serves as the largest institutional investor in Rwanda. With assets under management amounting to 2.06 trillion Rwf , which is equivalent to over 15% of the country's GDP, RSSB invests in key sectors of the economy and plays a crucial role in growing the country’s financial sector. With approximately 12 million members in the above six schemes, encompassing over 90% of Rwanda's population, RSSB is at the forefront of securing the health and financial well-being of Rwandans.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Monitor and analyze security events, logs, and alerts from various systems and applications to identify potential threats or security breaches

Investigate and respond to security incidents, implementing appropriate mitigation strategies and countermeasures

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including development and operations, to integrate security best practices into the software development lifecycle (DevSecOps)

Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and remediate security weaknesses in systems, applications, and infrastructure

Implement and maintain security solutions, such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), security information and event management (SIEM) tools, and endpoint protection solutions

Stay up-to-date with the latest cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and industry best practices, and provide recommendations for enhancing the organization's security posture

Develop and deliver security awareness training and educational materials to promote a security-conscious culture within the organization

Collaborate with the Technology Adoption team to ensure seamless integration and adoption of security solutions and processes

Manage vendor relationships and collaborate with third-party security providers for specialized services or solutions

Conduct regular security audits and assessments to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements

Develop and maintain comprehensive security documentation, including policies, procedures, and incident response plans

Readily available to assist with any additional related tasks as assigned by manager
Key Qualifications and Experience
The successful candidate must have at least:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience

Minimum of 3 years of experience in a security operations or cybersecurity role
Key Competencies
Technical Competencies:

Hands-on experience with security tools, technologies, and industry-standard security frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO, OWASP)

Strong understanding of network security principles, protocols, and architectures
-
Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash) for automation and security tasks

Proficiency in security operations tools (e.g., SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls, endpoint protection)

Knowledge of secure coding practices, web application security, and secure software development life cycle (SDLC)

Experience with vulnerability management, penetration testing, and ethical hacking techniques

Understanding of regulatory compliance requirements

Additional Information:
The position is based in Kigali, Rwanda and applicants must be willing to relocate outside their countries of domicile.
