We are committed to fostering innovation and excellence in all our operations. We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Network Administrator to join our dynamic IT team.
Job Summary:
The Senior Network Administrator will be responsible for the design, implementation, and management of the institution’s network infrastructure. This role requires a proactive individual who can ensure the stability, security, and optimal performance of our network systems to support the Institution’s operations and strategic goals.
Major Responsibilities:
- Design, configure, deploy, and manage network infrastructure, including LANs, WANs, VPNs, firewalls, routers, switches, load balancers, QoS and other networking equipment and services.
- Carry out network administration and troubleshooting tasks to ensure WAN and LAN are always operating efficiently at head office, Disaster Recovery Center and in branches
- Recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations, and determine hardware or software requirements related to such changes
- Continually improve the network by monitoring and evaluating network performance issues including availability, reliability, utilization, throughput and latency.
- Planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of network devices for better performance
- Implement relevant system updates as per schedule to ensure the system capability is managed at all times
- Perform regular data backups and disaster recovery operations of all network devices
- Engage users on areas of improvement on infrastructure service delivery to ensure they are fully facilitated to deliver timely and quality service to customers
- Handle escalated technical issues to support the business on network issues
- Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
- Conduct regular network performance tuning and capacity planning.
- Implement and manage security measures to protect the network from threats, such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and network access controls.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network issues, including connectivity problems, hardware failures, and software malfunctions
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all implemented networks.
- Ensure compliance with network policies, standards, procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Stay up to date with the latest network technologies, trends, and best practices.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior network staff.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration and operation of network services.
- Provide monthly report on Network status, performance, issues and recommendations.
- Design and update AB Rwanda Network Diagram.
Necessary Experience, Skills and qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
- More than 5 years’ experience in a network administration role.
- Being a CCNA certified is a must,
- Having CCNP, CCIE or CEH certifications is an added value.
- Previous experience with Cisco switches and routers preferred.
- Previous experience with Sophos and other firewalls.
- Strong knowledge of network protocols, such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, etc.
- Experience with network security principles and practices.
- Proficiency in using network monitoring and management tools.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with network automation tools and scripting languages (Python, Perl, etc.)
