Job Description

Title             :         Mechanic Officer

Reports to    :         Deputy Greenkeeper

Education level  :  Mechanical engineering degree, diploma, or certificate from a technical school.

Kigali Golf Resort & Villas' clubhouse is undergoing improvements to become one of the continent's top facilities. The clubhouse will eventually include a health club, tennis and squash courts, a swimming pool, and seven shops.

We are searching for a capable mechanic officer who will be in charge of identifying mechanical issues, doing routine and preventative maintenance, and repairing equipment.

Specific Responsibilities - include but are not limited to:

  • Examines, corrects, identifies, and fixes mechanical issues in the many forms of equipment used to maintain golf courses.
  • Does the grinding and sharpening of the mower cutting unit.
  • Performs general overhauls on both 2 and 4 stroke engines.
  • Repairs steering systems, starters, generators, universal joints, hydraulic systems, carburetors, distributors, fuel pumps, differentials, high-pressure pumps, and valves.
  • Brakes are installed and adjusted.
  • Installs wiring, glass, batteries, and tires.
  •  Performs normal repairs, painting, and body work on occasion for automobiles.
  • Keeps track of schedules for and requirements for preventative maintenance, repairs completed, purchase orders, parts inventories, fuel and lubricant usage, and hours worked.

Knowledge, Skills and Traits

  • Working knowledge of automotive equipment, light and heavy construction equipment, and maintenance tools.
  • Ability to employ a wide range of equipment repair tools when doing mechanical repairs.
  • Understanding of the theory, maintenance, and use of internal combustion engines, hydraulic systems, and mower grinding, sharpening, and adjustment.
  • Ability to perform routine maintenance and identify mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Mechanical engineering degree, diploma, or technical school training
