Job Summary

Offer practical technical leadership to support Old Mutual Rwanda Plc's ongoing IT requirements.  This entails overseeing the help desk team, managing and supporting end user devices, servers, network infrastructure, and telephony.

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Team-specific deliverables should be contracted with the country's ICT Manager.
  • Upkeep of IT systems, including software, hardware, email systems, and network security tools
  • ensuring data security by optimizing and maintaining network security protocols including secure socket layer (SSL), secure file transfer protocol (SFTP), and virtual private networks (VPNs).
  • identifying flaws in the computer network of a company and offering solutions.
  • conducting regular network checks
  • troubleshooting problems with the LAN, WAN, and other network portions of a business
  • teaching employees how to use hardware and software.
  • building and maintaining servers in conjunction with network architects in order to enhance network performance.
  • taking part in the purchasing of hardware and software
  • Manage and provide support for the computer infrastructure, including servers, telephony, network devices, and laptops.
  • To verify compliance with licensing and I.T. policy requirements (such as security compliance), perform audits on the hardware and software.
  • As the primary point of contact for all IT-related issues, head the local help desk team.
  • In the infrastructure, end-user support, and help desk domains, keep an eye on performance and ensure that it complies with Service Level Agreements.
  • Support the gear and software that go with the call center telephony services.
  • Find and implement efforts to optimize or reduce costs.
  • Effective communication is key when it comes to support-related operations.

Qualifications and experience

  • 2 years minimum of experience working as a network administrator, system administrator, or in a position related
  • Practical knowledge of switching, routing, and networking.
  • Excellent expertise in best practices for infrastructure management (deployment in the cloud and on-premises)
  • Having knowledge of database technologies like Oracle and SQL Server.
  • Knowledge of LAN and WAN setup and support.
  • Experience configuring and supporting firewalls, setting up remote Internet VPN connections, troubleshooting issues, and finding solutions is preferred.
  • BSc/BA in computer science, information technology, or a related field
  • Professional certificate, such as Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) or Cisco would be An added benefit.
