About the Apprenticeship
Structured 6-month apprenticeship to develop five commercially minded graduates into fully qualified Regional Sales Managers at WAR. You will work under a Zone RSM on real customer acquisition, revenue collection, and community engagement across our INUMAT minigrid network — selling safe water connections to households and businesses that need them.
Career path: Apprentices who consistently exceed expectations throughout the 6 months may be promoted to Junior RSM Officer with the full Officer-level package. Apprentices who do not meet that bar will not be retained.
Who We're Looking For
- ??Education: Diploma or bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, Commerce, Entrepreneurship, or a closely related field from a recognised Rwandan institution.
- ??Experience: Recent graduate (0-1 year) or about-to-graduate within 3 months.
- ??Sales Foundation: Any practical exposure to sales, customer service, retail, or community outreach — through internships, campus projects, or personal enterprise. Bonus for door-to-door or field sales, mobile-money collection, or FMCG distribution.
- ??Field Ready: Comfortable spending 5-10 nights on rural field assignments at a time, walking kilometres between households in sun and rain.
Key Result Areas (mirrored from our current RSM Officers)
- ??Customer acquisition — Identify prospective households and businesses within the minigrid service area, conduct door-to-door visits, explain INUMAT water connection benefits, and convert prospects into paying customers.
- ??Revenue collection & account management — Collect water payments, reconcile daily collections with zone targets, follow up on overdue accounts, and maintain accurate payment records.
- ??Community engagement — Organise community meetings, water demonstrations, and local awareness campaigns. Build trust with village leaders, cell executives, and sector authorities.
- ??Sales reporting & data — Record every customer interaction, new connection, and payment in WAR's systems.
Produce daily sales summaries for the Zone RSM.
- ??Customer satisfaction — Handle first-level complaints, escalate technical faults, and close the loop with the customer.
- ??Pipeline growth — Track and grow a pipeline of prospective connections. Coordinate with the call centre and zone team to convert enquiries into signed contracts.
Skills & Values Fit
- ??Persuasion without pressure — you can explain value, answer objections, and close a sale while keeping the customer's dignity.
- ??Numeracy - comfortable with daily cash reconciliation, basic Excel, and target tracking.
- ??Smartphone literacy — you will use mobile tools for data capture and reporting daily.
- ??Clear communication in Kinyarwanda; English or French is an advantage.
- ??Team spirit — you work alongside Regional Technicians, call-centre agents, and zone leadership.
