Introduction

Mayfair Insurance Company Rwanda Ltd is a general insurance company providing various general insurance products in Rwanda since May 2017. It is regulated by the National Bank of Rwanda and since inception the company has been on an upward trend, experiencing phenominal steady growth both on the turn over and profitability. The Company is part of the network of Mayfair Insurance companies across the region (Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Rwanda and Uganda and DRC).

The Head office of Mayfair Insurance Company Rwanda Ltd is in Kigali Heights Building, Ground Floor, on KG 7Ave, Kigali.

Reports to: Head of Claims.

JOB PURPOSE/JOB VALUE

Reporting to the Head of claims, the claims officer will be responsible for the effective and efficient processing of claims to deliver world-class customer service while optimally managing the claims costs.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE JOB (KEY RESULT AREAS).

• Ensure the claims are well documented in a chronological way and entered in the system.
• Create initial claim reserves, update claim reserves, and keep claimant files with required documents.
• Respond to customers’ queries as per the company’s service charter.
• Appointing insurance loss adjusters, repairers and doing follow ups with the same.
• Ensure the claims handling process for death and /or bodily injuries claims is adhered to as per the concerned laws.
• Ensure effective communication with the insureds & other stakeholders from claim reception and during the handling process.
• Analyze claims and communicate the feedback to customers (Preparation of LPOs, discharge vouchers, offer letters and/or repudiation letters).
• Preparation of payment requests for insured and service providers invoices and ensure that they are paid within set timelines.
• Dispatching the proof of payments to the respective payees.

• Prepare intimations of subrogation/Recovery for the concerned parties within 15 working days and make follow up until full settlement.
• Maintain efficient and complete record management in terms of filing soft copy documents for every claim file.
• Maintain the recovery and salvages registers.
• Closure of claim files after completion of all transactions.

OTHER DUTIES

• Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Supervisors.

• Approved claims policies and procedures.
• 100% adherence to service level agreements.
• Statutory and legal compliance.
• Adherence to set timelines in the claims management.

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

The education and professional qualification are below;

• Bachelor degree in Insurance, law or any other related business courses
• Having passed insurance professional courses will be an added value.

Experience

• Minimum of Two (2) years of experience in General Insurance Claims Handling.
