Job responsibilities

Design, implement, and maintain efficient and scalable database structures and architectures.

Monitor, tune, and optimize database performance to ensure fast and efficient system operation

Implement and manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies to safeguard organizational data.

Maintain data integrity, consistency, and accuracy across multiple integrated systems.

Enforce database security policies, including user access controls, authentication, and data protection measures.

Support application development teams with database design, query optimization, and technical guidance.

Establish and enforce database standards, governance frameworks, and best practices across systems.

Conduct capacity planning and monitoring to ensure scalability and accommodate future growth.

Proactively identify and resolve database issues to minimize downtime and operational risks.

Ensure maintenance and support of the sector's systems.
-
Perform all other duties that may be assigned by his/her superiors.

Required competencies and key technical skills

Database command of SQL and SQL server tools
Key skills and competencies for a Database Administrator position include:

Strong proficiency in Structured Query Language (SQL) for querying, managing, and administering relational databases, as well as advanced knowledge of platform-specific procedural extensions such as PL/pgSQL (PostgreSQL), including stored procedures, triggers, and database functions.

Familiarity with data exchange formats such as JSON and XML is required to support system integration and interoperability across enterprise applications.

Knowledge of NoSQL query languages (e.g., MongoDB Query Language or equivalent) will be considered an advantage.
