About the Role
The Company Driver moves WAR staff, partners and equipment safely and on time between our Kigali office, our project sites and government and partner offices. The role sits in the Finance & Logistics team. A driver at WAR is a trusted ambassador of the company on the road and a first-line guardian of our vehicles.
Key Result Areas
- ??Safe and on-time transport of staff, partners and cargo to all designated destinations.
- ??Day-to-day vehicle care — cleanliness and basic maintenance of the assigned company vehicle.
- ??Accurate trip logging — fuel reporting and adherence to WAR's vehicle policies.
- ??Professional representation — courteous conduct with passengers and the public.
- ??Full compliance with the Rwandan highway code and all WAR safety and integrity policies.
Detailed Responsibilities
- ??Drive WAR staff and authorised passengers within Kigali and to project sites in Bugesera, Eastern Province and Western Province.
- ??Conduct daily pre-trip vehicle checks (fluids, tyres, lights, fuel) and report defects immediately.
- ??Carry out basic vehicle troubleshooting and arrange professional repairs through the Direct Supervisor.
- ??Maintain accurate trip logs, fuel records and mileage reports; submit weekly to Finance & Logistics.
- ??Plan routes ahead of time; anticipate traffic, road and weather conditions to ensure punctuality.
- ??Keep the vehicle clean inside and outside at all times; safeguard tools, equipment and documents on board.
- ??Observe the Rwandan highway code at all times; respect WAR speed limits, seat-belt and no-phone-while-driving rules.
- ??Support light loading and unloading of equipment when collecting parts or delivering materials.
- ??Be on call for early-morning, evening or weekend trips when the schedule requires.
- Strictly observe WAR's anti-corruption policy — accepting or offering any bribe is grounds for immediate termination.
Qualifications & Profile
- ??Education: High school diploma or equivalent certificate (A2, TVET or recognised vocational driving school).
- ??License: Valid Rwandan driving license covering at least two of the following categories: B, C, D or F.
- ??Experience: 3+ years professional driving experience preferred — applications with less are still considered if other qualifications are strong.
- ??Mechanical Knowledge: Basic vehicle mechanics — able to diagnose simple faults and perform routine maintenance.
- ??Languages: Fluent Kinyarwanda; English is a strong advantage.
- ??Clean driving record — we will request and verify.

Compensation
- Base Salary: RWF 165,340 / month gross
- Transport Allowance: RWF 83,900 / month gross
- Retention Pay: RWF 35,000 / month gross
- Net Take-Home (probation, first 3 months): RWF 187,000 / month
- Net Take-Home (post-probation): RWF 221,000 / month
- Annual Review: 5-7% Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA)
- Benefits: Statutory per WAR HR Manual and Rwandan labour law (RSSB, public holidays, leave)
