Job Description
The Electrical Assistant/Apprentice will support the Electrical Specialist in assembling, installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical components for all INUMA™ power and backup systems. This role provides hands-on experience in electrical assembly, repairs, and maintenance while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
Key Result Areas:

Workshop Support & Component Assembly: Assist in assembling electrical components, including electrical boxes, circuits, and wiring for kiosks and mini-grids.

Electrical Installations: Support in installing electrical systems, submersible pumps, and power supply units at various project sites.

System Maintenance & Repairs: Work closely with the Electrical Specialist and System Longevity Officer to troubleshoot and repair faulty electrical equipment, ensuring minimal downtime.

Learning & Development: Gain hands-on experience by assisting in the research and development of localized electrical components and automation systems.

Safety & Compliance: Follow proper safety procedures and electrical standards while handling, assembling, and maintaining electrical systems.
Responsibilities:

Assist in assembling all electrical components and subsystems needed for power supply and backup systems.

Support in designing and installing submersible pump power systems based on technical specifications.

Help adapt standard electrical designs to meet different site requirements.

Participate in setting up and testing automation systems for solar, grid, and generator power transitions.

Assist in troubleshooting non-functional electrical equipment and propose repair solutions.

Ensure all electrical tools and equipment are well-maintained and in proper working condition.

Collaborate with the team to implement sustainability practices by repairing and repurposing electrical components.

Follow instructions from the Electrical Specialist to ensure proper quality control of electrical installations.
Qualifications & Skills:
-
Degree/Diploma or certificate in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field (or ongoing apprenticeship).

Basic knowledge of electrical wiring, circuits, and troubleshooting.

Experience with power systems, solar panels, and DC-to-AC conversions is an added advantage.

Strong willingness to learn and develop technical skills/in the renewable energy sector.

Ability to work in a team and follow instructions from senior electrical specialists.

Awareness of electrical safety standards and procedures.
Other key Requirements:

Solar Installation Experience – Must have prior experience in installing solar energy systems

Ability to Read Circuit Diagrams – Should be able to interpret and troubleshoot electrical and solar schematics.

Solar Home System Design – Knowledge of designing solar home systems, including load calculation and component selection

Basic Knowledge of Water Pumping Systems – Some understanding of solar water pumping solutions and their electrical components.

Battery Storage Systems – Understanding of battery types (Lithium, Lead Acid), sizing, and maintenance.

Charge Controller and Inverter Setup – Knowledge of different charge controllers (MPPT/PWM) and inverter types (Off-grid, Hybrid, Grid-tie)

Electrical Safety Standards – Awareness of electrical codes, grounding, and safe installation practices.

Basic Wiring and Connection Skills – Ability to handle wiring, connectors, circuit breakers, and fuses in solar and electrical setups.

Testing and Commissioning – Ability to test solar systems, use multimeters, and ensure proper functionality after installation

Teamwork and Communication – Ability to collaborate with technicians and communicate technical issues clearly.
