While our main area of expertise is the environment and green economy, we also engage in projects related to tourism, entrepreneurship, youth empowerment, and community development.

To better serve our growing clientele, we are recruiting a professional intern who will support our finance team in delivering top-tier services and ensuring our finances and operations run smoothly. 

Below are more details about this exciting opportunity:

Position: Finance and Operations Intern – Finance and Operations Department

Reports to: Accountant 

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Record Management:

  • Assist in maintaining accurate financial records using QuickBooks.
  • Record and categorise transactions (expenses, revenues, etc.) in the system.
  • Help prepare financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.

Bank Reconciliation

  • Assist in reconciling bank statements with QuickBooks records.
  • Identify discrepancies and collaborate with the finance team to resolve any issues.

Accounts Payable and Receivable

  • Support in processing payments to vendors and reconciling supplier accounts.
  • Assist in managing client invoices and following up on outstanding receivables.

Financial Reporting

  • Participate in the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports for management review.
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities.

Audit Support:

  • Help organise financial documents for internal review and external audits.
  • Assist in providing financial data for compliance and regulatory purposes.

Expense Management:

  • Monitor and process team expense claims.
  • Ensure all expenses are accounted for and accurately entered in QuickBooks.

Administrative Tasks:

  • Support the finance team in day-to-day tasks, such as filing, data entry, and maintaining financial documentation.

Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field 
  • Knowledge and understanding of QuickBooks accounting software
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Must have access to and use a compatible personal computer throughout the internship

  • Understanding the double entry accounting concept
  • Mastering the accounting cycle
  • Understanding the accruals accounting concept

  • Strong organisational skills 
  • Motivation and ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication skills through various platforms (phone calls, SMS, social media, emails, etc.)
  • An understanding of the use of Google Suite (Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, etc)
  • A collaborative and proactive attitude
  • Time management and prioritisation skills
  • Attention to detail and the ability to deliver on time with minimal supervision
  • Self-discipline and professionalism
  • Proven skills in using accounting tools (QuickBooks and advanced Excel)
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly

In addition to the above-mentioned skills, the candidate should have a good command of English and Kinyarwanda with proven skills of writing and speaking both languages proficiently.

Interns receive a monthly facilitation fee of Rwf 150,000 and an additional Rwf 10,000 for communication (airtime).
