Background The Rwanda Youth in Agribusiness Forum (RYAF) is a nationwide platform dedicated to transforming the perception of young people towards agriculture and promoting their meaningful participation in the agricultural sector. RYAF supports youth through awareness creation, skills development, agribusiness promotion, and advocacy, with the aim of enhancing their capacity, creating employment opportunities, and contributing to the transformation of Rwanda's agricultural business landscape.
In collaboration with the Kayonza Irrigation and Integrated Watershed Management Project Phase II (KIIWP II), RYAF is implementing activities aimed at strengthening agricultural cooperatives, individual farmers, improving productivity and agribusiness management, promoting market linkages, and enhancing the capacity of farmers and youth to participate effectively in agricultural value chains. To strengthen field-level implementation and provide effective technical support to the project beneficiaries, RYAF is recruiting three (3) Cooperative Officers.
The recruited officers will work closely with cooperatives, farmers, youth, project teams, and other relevant stakeholders to support cooperative governance and management, agribusiness development, production improvement, market access, record keeping, and other project-related activities.
The positions provide an opportunity for qualified and motivated staff to contribute to the empowerment of farmers and youth while supporting sustainable agricultural deveopment under the KIIWP II project.
1.Position: Cooperative officers (3)
TERMS OF REFERENCE
To be able to deliver services that meet members and partners' expectation, RYAF is looking for high motivated individual who will carry out responsibilities related to day-to-day operations of the organization as follow: the responsibilities of this role wil! include, but certainly not limited to:
- Review the by-law documents fer cooperatives, (5 years strategic Plan, 'nternal sulès and regulatin, procedure manua! and annuai work plan.
- Monitoring and assisting performing record keeping particularly development of the reports for the cooperatives (technical & financial) Assist the cooperative in the compliance with the law governing the cooperatives in Rwanda.
- Provide coaching for trained cooperatives in the trainings provided by KIIWP Il implementing Partners.
- Organize and conduct the coaching to the cooperative members on the agribusiness topic for raising the cooperative skills on the access to market, access to finance....
- Support and facilitate to speed up the payment of cooperative membership fees and mobilization for cooperative new members.
- Mobilize farmers to adopt agricultural digitalization, new technologies and increase awareness on crop insurance program.
- Assist the cooperatives to comply with the signed farming contracts.
- Provide coaching to the youth supported by the KIIWP II project and link them with other opportunities.
- Facilitate cooperative members and nearby community in the establishment of kitchen Gardens.
- Follow up/revisit of the RYAF KIIWP II pre-coached cooperatives for sustainability purpose.
- Conduct baseline assessment at each cooperatives level to assess managerial, technical and financial cooperative position for baseline data.
- Undertake timely reporting (Weekly flash report and data, monthly and Quarterly report and Annual report
- Generate and provide necessary data to track the project progress in format produced and shared by your supervisor.
- Perform any other related task that may be required by supervisor.
SELECTION CRITERIA
To qualify for this offer, these will be the key requirements:
- Bachelor Degree (A0) in Agri-business, Agriculture Economics & Rura! Development, Agricultural Economics, crop production and Cooperative, Management.
- Having at least one year of working experience in Agricultural Cooperatives.
- Experience and demonstrated proficiency wit MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPcint).
- Strong verbal and.written, listening in Englishand French and communication skills.
- Demonstrated attention to detail.
- Haying critical thinking and analytical skills.
- Being 30 years old or less at the application date.
- Famiiiarity with the Kayonza District and its agricultura! landscape is an asset.
