Deputy Executive Director
Never Again Rwanda
Reporting requirements:
Directly reporting to the Executive Director and liaising frequently with the Senior Management Team (SMT)
Job Purpose:
The Deputy Executive Director will have the passion and experience to be part of a leadership team committed to supporting social change in Rwanda and to contributing to the overall leadership and vision of Never Again Rwanda (NAR).
You will work closely with the Executive Director and other members of the Senior Management Team (SMT) to oversee the delivery of the organisational strategy.
You will have lead responsibility for managing the organisation’s programme strategies, supporting the implementation of the organisational strategy, seeking and developing new programmes with donors and partners, forging strategic partnerships, overseeing the organisation’s grant-making and community development initiatives, and contributing to developing new programmes with donors.
You will play a crucial role in Never Again Rwanda's growth and development. You will be able to develop new funds and donor relationships while raising the organisation’s profile in all its pillars.

As part of our commitment to organizational learning and in support of the understanding that learning organizations are more effective, efficient, and relevant to the communities they serve, NAR expects all staff members to commit 5% of their time to learning activities by providing training and presentations that benefit Never Again Rwanda staff as well as themselves.
Administrative
As part of the office team, assist in general administrative duties, making phone calls, sending invites, and making online publications to NAR stakeholders (local and international partners, civil society organisations, Government agencies, donors, local and international academics, and other potential supporters); host visitors; and support interns and volunteers.
Performance-related management
As a staff member of the organisation, you will be expected to undertake and manage staff performance appraisal formats (based on tasks and responsibilities undertaken) and complete an accompanying competency format (*how a task is undertaken, behaviour, skills, and attitudes) for you and staff under your supervision. This will be conducted every 6 months and annually.
A work plan of yearly objectives will need to be produced between the line manager and employee at the start of the year in January, after the annual planning of yearly programme activities and events has been completed.

Qualification
Minimum Qualification: A University degree or a postgraduate qualification in Development or related Social Sciences, Conflict and Reconciliation, or Peacebuilding with ten years of professional work experience in senior management for the not-for-profit sector, preferably within a peacebuilding, governance, rights-based or research organisation(s).
