Mission/Core purpose of the Job

  • Responsible for leading the reporting and analytics function, delivering accurate, timely and insightful management and performance reporting across MTN R.
  • Drives a single source of truth, automated dashboards and self-service analytics that turn data into decisions for business, commercial, finance and operations stakeholders.
  • Partners with Finance, Technology/Data, Commercial and business units to define metrics, ensure data quality and embed an insight-driven, performance-management culture aligned to MTN R standards.

Key Performance Areas

  • Management & Performance Reporting: Own the production of accurate, timely management, performance and KPI reporting (daily, weekly, monthly) for business and leadership.
  • Executive Reporting Packs: Prepare executive, board and month-end reporting packs for Customer Operations and Customer Experience department with clear commentary, trends and insight.
  • Dashboards & Visualisation: Design, build and maintain automated dashboards and visualisations (e.g. Power BI / Tableau) for self-service access to insight for the department.
  • Business & Commercial Analytics: Deliver analysis on sales trends, revenue, subscriber Registration, and product performance in all customer touch points to support decisions.
  • Advanced & Predictive Analytics: Develop forecasting, segmentation, trend and predictive analysis to support planning.
  • KPI Framework & Scorecards: Define and maintain the KPI framework, scorecards and targets in partnership with business owners within Customer Operations and CEX department.
  • Single Source of Truth & Data Governance: Define metric definitions, business rules and a governed single source of truth; ensure consistency across reports.
  • Data Quality & Validation: Ensure data accuracy, completeness and validation; investigate and resolve discrepancies with data and source teams.
  • Data Pipelines & Integration: Partner with Technology / Data to define data requirements, sources and pipelines (ETL) for reliable reporting.
  • Reporting Automation: Automate manual and recurring reports to improve speed, accuracy and efficiency.
  • Insight & Recommendations: Translate data into clear insights, trends and recommendations for stakeholders.
  • Self-Service Analytics Enablement: Enable and train business users on self-service reporting tools and correct interpretation of data.
  • Report Catalogue & Documentation: Maintain a catalogue and documentation of reports, metric definitions and data sources.
  • Data Requests & Ad-hoc Analysis: Manage and prioritise ad-hoc data requests and deliver timely, accurate analysis.
  • Stakeholder Management: Partner with Finance, Commercial, Technology and business units to understand needs and deliver fit-for-purpose reporting.
  • Compliance, Data Protection & Access: Ensure reporting and analytics comply with data-protection, confidentiality, access-control and governance requirements.
  • Leadership & People Management: Lead and develop reporting and analytics staff; build a culture of accuracy, curiosity and continuous improvement.
  • Prepares and submits regular reporting and analytics performance updates to the line manager.
  • Monitor credit exposure and concentration risk by segment, product, and key accounts; recommend risk-mitigation actions such as deposits, revised payment terms, and credit limit adjustments.
  • Set portfolio-level KPIs including Days Sales Outstanding (DSO), bad-debt ratio, recovery rates, and ageing profile — and ensure robust governance, controls, and reporting.
  • Monitor, analyse and report ageing of debtor’s books ensuring accuracy, reduced overdue amounts and collections levels maintained
  • Provide clear, insightful reporting to the HOD, ExCo, and Board on collections performance, credit risk, bad debt, write-offs, and emerging trends.

Experience

  • 6+ years’ experience with 2+ years leading reporting, business intelligence or analytics, preferably in telecoms, fintech or services.
  • Strong experience with BI tools, SQL and large datasets.

Education Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Statistics, Economics, Data Science, Computer Science or related field.
  • Master’s Degree or MBA is an advantage. BI/analytics certifications (Power BI, SQL and similar) are advantageous.
  • Fluent in English; Kinyarwanda is an advantage.
