Reporting line: Facilities Maintenance Specialist

Job Purpose

To perform plumbing installation, maintenance, repair, and inspection activities across RwandAir facilities to ensure the continuous availability, safety, efficiency, and compliance of water supply, drainage, sanitation, and related plumbing systems, while minimizing operational disruptions.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance of plumbing, water supply, drainage, sanitation, and associated systems.
• Inspect plumbing infrastructure to identify leaks, blockages, equipment failures, and other defects, and undertake appropriate corrective actions.
• Repair, replace, and install pipes, valves, taps, sanitary fixtures, pumps, water tanks, and related plumbing components.
• Respond promptly to plumbing emergencies and breakdowns, particularly in critical operational and service areas.
• Conduct routine inspections and report major defects, deterioration, or replacement requirements to the Facilities Maintenance Specialist.
• Support renovation, construction, and facility improvement projects involving plumbing installations and modifications.

• Ensure all plumbing works are executed in accordance with applicable safety regulations, technical standards, and company procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, repairs performed, materials consumed, and outstanding work orders.
• Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and service providers during specialized maintenance or installation projects.
• Ensure proper utilization, maintenance, and accountability of tools, equipment, and plumbing materials.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment at all times.
• Escalate significant plumbing failures, safety hazards, water damage, or operational risks immediately to the Facilities Maintenance Specialist.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor in support of departmental objectives.

Qualifications, Professional Requirements, and Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in plumbing installation, maintenance, and repair.
• Experience in airports, airlines, hotels, hospitals, commercial buildings, industrial facilities, or other large-scale operational environments will be an added advantage.
• Proven experience in responding to maintenance issues within service-critical environments is preferred.

Essential

• A minimum of a Diploma in Plumbing, Plumbing Technology, Building Services Engineering, or a related technical discipline from a recognized institution.
• Trade certification or professional registration in plumbing is an added advantage.
• Sound knowledge of water supply, drainage, sanitation, pumping systems, and plumbing infrastructure.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and plumbing layouts.

• Basic knowledge of occupational health, safety, and environmental practices.
• Basic computer literacy and ability to use maintenance management systems and work-order platforms.
• Good communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively manage urgent maintenance requirements.
• Flexibility to work outside normal working hours, including weekends and public holidays, when operationally required.
