Job Description

Position Overview

Masaka Creamery is seeking a detail-oriented, disciplined, and proactive Quality Coordinator to support and strengthen quality assurance and food safety systems across production and warehouse operations. The Quality Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring that all products meet internal quality standards, regulatory requirements, and food safety expectations.

This role requires strong attention to detail, integrity, and the ability to work closely with Production, Warehouse, and Management teams in a fast-paced dairy manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate is organized, observant, and committed to continuous improvement and compliance.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

The main objectives and responsibilities of the position are to:

Quality Assurance & Food Safety

  • Support the implementation and monitoring of quality assurance and food safety systems.
  • Ensure compliance with internal quality standards, SOPs, and hygiene requirements.
  • Monitor critical control points and quality parameters during production and storage.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and traceability of raw materials and finished goods.

Inspections, Testing & Monitoring

  • Conduct routine quality inspections of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods.
  • Support basic product testing and record results accurately.
  • Identify, document, and report non-conformities, deviations, and quality risks.
  • Follow up on corrective and preventive actions.

Documentation & Record Management

  • Maintain accurate and well-organized quality records, logs, and reports.
  • Ensure all quality documentation is complete, up to date, and audit-ready.
  • Support preparation for internal audits, customer audits, and regulatory inspections.

Training & Awareness

  • Support training of production and warehouse staff on quality, hygiene, and food safety requirements.
  • Promote a culture of quality, cleanliness, and accountability on the factory floor.
  • Support clear communication of quality requirements across Deaf and hearing teams.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve product quality, processes, and compliance.
  • Support root-cause analysis for quality issues and customer complaints.
  • Work closely with Production and Operations to implement improvements.

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Quality Management, Biotechnology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in quality assurance or food safety, preferably in dairy or FMCG manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of food safety principles, hygiene standards, and SOP-based systems.

  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
  • High level of integrity, consistency, and accountability.
  • Ability to work effectively in a Deaf-inclusive and multicultural environment.

Compensation & Working Conditions

  • Compensation: To be determined.
  • Paid Leave: 18 days annually.
  • Work Location: Plot G5, Kigali Special Economic Zone, Kigali, Rwanda.
  • Contract: Open-ended.
  • Reporting To: Quality / Operations Manager
  • Expenses: Reimbursement for authorized business-related expenses (transport, airtime, etc.).
