Key Performance Areas
- Facilitate and coordinate enterprise-wide risk identification and assessment workshops across business units, capturing strategic, operational, financial, and compliance risks.
- Develop methodologies to measure the financial risk and credit portfolio risks across the relevant business functions.
- Provide reports and analysis to support and contribute to the development of the functional fintech strategy in line with the overarching business goals
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting to enable the regular review of the functional strategy, roadmap, and performance to ensure its alignment with the changing dynamics of the internal and external ecosystem
- Develop and enhance the financial risk reporting and monitoring framework, which meets the requirements of various external and internal stakeholders
- Maintain and update the enterprise risk register, ensuring risks are accurately captured, rated (likelihood/impact), and tracked to closure.
- Perform detailed risk analysis on new products, projects, processes, and system changes before launch or implementation.
- Conduct periodic re-assessment of existing risks to reflect changes in the business, market, or regulatory environment.
- Monitor key risk indicators (KRIs) and risk appetite thresholds, escalating emerging or elevated risks to management on time.
- Prepare accurate and timely risk reports, dashboards, heat maps, and presentations for Executive Committee, the Risk Committee, and the Board.
- Track risk trends over time and provide management with early-warning insights on deteriorating risk areas.
- Maintain quality and integrity of risk data across all reporting tools and systems.
- Support the development, implementation, and periodic review of enterprise risk management policies, frameworks, incorporating new IFRS developments and procedures aligned with recognised standards (e.g., ISO 31000, COSO ERM).
- Track and follow up on risk mitigation action plans to ensure timely closure by risk owners, escalating overdue actions as needed.
- Collaborate with Compliance, Legal, Finance, IT, Network, and Operations to design, implement, and embed risk controls across the business.
- Conduct root cause analysis of incidents, losses, and near-misses to strengthen controls and prevent recurrence.
- Coordinate the development, maintenance, and testing of business continuity and disaster recovery plans across departments.
- Make a meaningful contribution towards the design, configuration, and implementation of the enterprise Governance, Risk, and Compliance (eGRC) system, focusing on the financial risk management components.
- Support crisis management simulations and post-exercise reviews, recommending improvements to resilience plans.
- Monitor and operationalize adherence to Trust Account Management Standard across our trust accounts
- Support internal and external audits by providing risk data, documentation, and tracking remediation of audit findings.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of existing policies and procedures and collaborate with business units to identify gaps and recommend appropriate controls.
- Support regulatory engagements on enterprise risk and governance matters, including preparation of regulatory submissions and responses.
- Ensure enterprise risk practices remain aligned with evolving regulatory requirements and Approved principle risk standards.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of existing policies and procedures and collaborate with business units to identify gaps and recommend appropriate controls
- Conduct risk awareness training and sensitization sessions for staff, management, and relevant third parties across the organisation.
- Act as a point of contact for business units seeking guidance on risk identification, assessment, and mitigation.
- Act as a subject matter expert all for issues related to financial management policies and procedures.
- Drive continuous improvement on standardization of financial risk management processes and procedures across the business.
- Advise on the risk characteristics of complex financial deals/trades.
- Disseminate timely and relevant financial risk data reports to key stakeholders.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with risk owners and champions across departments to embed a proactive risk culture.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in financial risk analysis, credit risk analysis, and Financial Risk Management, enterprise risk management, internal audit, compliance, or a related field
- Knowledge of e-commerce and electronic payment business is advantageous
- Understanding of various international risk management and business continuity standards
- Experience in building financial risk models
- Experience working in a medium to large organization
Education Background
- Bachelor’s degree in risk management, Finance, Finance, Economics, Mathematics/ Statistics or related field.
- Professional certification in risk management (e.g., CA(SA)/CFA/ ERM, CRMA, CIA, CRISC) is preferable
