Mission/Core purpose of the Job

To perform a comprehensive assessment of risks impacting the company. This includes evaluating both inherent and residual risk exposures, identifying emerging risks, and assessing the effectiveness of existing controls. Providing actionable, risk-based recommendations aimed at mitigating risks and supporting the development and implementation of appropriate risk mitigation strategies, control enhancements, and monitoring mechanisms. Timely execution of risk responses and alignment with the company’s risk appetite, regulators’ requirements, and enterprise risk management (ERM) framework.

Key Performance Areas

  • Support the delivery and rollout of AML/CTF and fraud monitoring systems for compliance projects and platform upgrades, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Collaborate with Technology, Product, Risk, and external vendors to define AML/CTF requirements and fraud management, trends and ensure they are accurately incorporated into system changes.
  • Participate in the design, testing, and deployment of enhancements to AML and fraud monitoring systems, including transaction monitoring, screening, reporting, and case management platforms.
  • Develop, tune, and maintain AML and fraud transaction monitoring scenarios, thresholds, and risk models.
  • Design data-driven detection methodologies using statistical analysis, machine learning techniques, and behavioural analytics.
  • Continuously evaluate model effectiveness through back-testing, model validation, and KPI monitoring.
  • Conduct User Acceptance Testing (UAT), validate system behaviour, and ensure defects are resolved before go live.
  • Monitor the effectiveness and operational impact of platform updates, recommending adjustments where necessary.
  • Transform complex data into actionable insights to support AML strategy and investigations.

  • Build dashboards, automated reports, and data visualization tools for AML and fraud prevention purposes and reports to management.
  • Ensure data quality, completeness, and integrity across all AML and fraud prevention systems and data sources.
  • Partner with technology teams to ensure proper data pipelines, architecture, and analytics tools are in place.
  • Identify false positives and design optimization initiatives to improve alert relevance.
  • Conduct periodic scenario performance reviews and propose enhancements to reflect customer behaviour changes.
  • Introduce new rules or analytical approaches based on risk assessments, thematic reviews, or regulatory expectations.
  • Establish a risk-based approach to Customer Due Diligence (CDD) at onboarding and ongoing monitoring of customer activities; establish internal procedures to ensure that suspicious activity is reported in accordance with requirements prescribed by local laws and regulations;
  • Build performance monitoring dashboards to support business operations in real time and identify patterns, trends, anomalies, and actionable insights to support strategic and operational decision-making.

Experience

  • Two or more years of relevant work experience in Fintech, Financial Services, Insurance, Banking, Risk Consulting, Governance, Risk & Controls management
  • Experience with IFRS, Corporate Governance (King 4) and the COSO 2013 Internal Control Framework
  • Knowledge of e-commerce and electronic payment business is advantageous
  • Understanding various international risk management and business continuity standards

Education Background

  • Minimum of a 4-year tertiary degree in Data Science, statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field.
  • Professional Certifications in Compliance Management, Risk Management, etc.: (ACAMS, ACCAPA, Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified Risk and Compliance Management professional, ISO 31000 Risk Manager, (CA), (CFA), (FRM) is preferable.
