Warehouse Worker (Crew Leader)

The Embassy of the United States of America in Kigali is recruiting for a Warehouse Worker (Crew Leader). The position is open to All Interested Candidates/All Sources and available to start immediately.

Duties: Incumbent is responsible for leading and guiding a team of five Warehouse Workers (including him or herself) in performing a variety of manual labor tasks, to include delivery, storage, packing, unpacking, and movement of USG property within the chancery building and warehouse, at leased residences, and at representational residences, using appropriate tools and equipment. Incumbent is one of two vehicle operators for the embassy warehouse.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

All selected candidates must be able to obtain and hold a Public Trust security Clearance.

All selected candidates will be subject to a background investigation and may be subject to a pre-employment medical exam. 
Selected candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time [MONTH] upon receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Education Requirements:

  • Completion of Secondary School Education is required.

Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Two (2) years' experience in warehouse or equivalent combination of warehouse and labor activities is required. One (1)-year professional driving experience is required.

Language: 

  • Good working Knowledge in English is required.

  • Good working knowledge in Kinyarwanda is required.

Job Knowledge:

Must have an understanding of basic receiving and warehouse techniques to prevent injury to people or damage to property. Must know locations of supplies, equipment, furniture and property stored in warehouse. Must learn location of offices and residences.  Must be able to set up various regular embassy including assembly of tents, stage and/or podium.  Must know local driving laws and must know routes throughout the city, including prohibitions on large vehicles in certain areas of Kigali.

Skills And Abilities:

Must be able to perform heavy work and make heavy lifts at times. Must have valid local driving license, categories B and C. Must have held a valid driving license for at least 5 years. Must be able to operate forklifts or have the ability to learn. Must be able to operate all materials-handling equipment used in warehousing and deliveries. Must be able to carry 50lbs.
