Company Driver
About the Role
The Company Driver moves WAR staff, partners and equipment safely and on time between our Kigali office, our project sites and government and partner offices. The role sits in the Finance & Logistics team. A driver at WAR is a trusted ambassador of the company on the road and a first-line guardian of our vehicles.
Key Result Areas
- Safe & on-time transport - Move staff, partners and cargo to all designated destinations.
- Vehicle care - Day-to-day cleanliness and basic maintenance of the assigned company vehicle.
- Trip records & compliance — Accurate trip logging, fuel reporting and adherence to WAR's vehicle policies.
- Professional representation - Courteous, discreet conduct toward passengers and the public.
- Safety & integrity - Compliance with the Rwandan highway code and all WAR safety and anti-corruption policies.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent certificate (A2, TVET, or recognised vocational driving school).
- Valid Rwandan driving license covering at least TWO of the following categories: B, C, D or F.
- Three (3) or more years of professional driving experience preferred.
- Clean driving record - we will request and verify.
Skills & Values Fit
- Mechanical knowledge — Basic understanding of vehicle mechanics; able to do simple troubleshooting and routine maintenance.
- Communication & interpersonal skills - Fluent Kinyarwanda; English is a strong advantage.
- Time management — Punctuality is non-negotiable.
- Trustworthiness — Reliable, honest, discreet with confidential passenger information.
- Accountability — Owns mistakes, reports issues early, never hides incidents.
- Multitasking Comfortable juggling shifting schedules, last-minute changes and competing requests.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: RWF 165,340 monthly gross
- Transport Allowance: RWF 83,900 monthly gross
- Retention Pay: RWF 35,000 monthly gross
- Annual Review: Cost-of-living adjustment of 5%-7% reviewed each year
- Statutory Benefits: RSSB, public holidays, paid leave per WAR HR Manual and Rwandan labour law

Note: Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a practical driving test, a Kinyarwanda highway-code interview, and our standard bribe-test screening before any offer is made.
