COMPLIANCE TESTING MANAGER

Job Title: Compliance Testing Manager

Department: Compliance

Reports to: Head of Compliance

Location: Equity Bank Headquarters

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare periodical Compliance management and monitoring plans;
  • Review new and existing legislation, industry best practice and developments so as to formulate and update Compliance risk management and monitoring plans.
  • Develop and implement a compliance monitoring programme, identifying, assessing, monitoring and reporting all material compliance risks;
  • Conduct independent reviews and evaluations to ensure that compliance Issues/concerns within the organization are being appropriately evaluated, investigated and resolved.
  • Conduct compliance risk assessment in all branches and head office to ensure business complies with the internal policy as well as regulatory requirements.
  • Establish a comprehensive mechanism for regular monitoring and supervision of Bank agents.
  • Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability; develop/implement corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues,
  • Collect information and review documentation to ensure that inherent risks are identified and evaluated and discuss mitigation actions with risk owners.
  • Assist developing / Updating branch compliance risk assessment toolkit.

  • Keep tracking non closed compliance gaps and always submit to Head of Compliance and to the Board.
  • Follow up with RCA control not implemented within timeline and include any non-compliance in the branch assessment report and share the report to Head of Compliance on the same.
  • Assess whether the branches and head oce departments comply with regulatory requirement related to their area of operations.
  • Submit the summary of Key non-compliance with management comments and timeline to close on the gaps within one week from the date of submission final report with Business
  • Propose reviews/ amendments to the Line manager as per the policy catalogue.
  • Organise two Compliance related topic training to all Compliance department sta per year
  • Develop branches compliance reports for integration in the monthly NFRC & FRC report and quarterly Board Risk Committees report.
  • Work on adhoc analysis to support business performance.
  • Participate in any other activities as may be directed by Head of Compliance.

Candidate’s Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Attributes

  • At least a Bachelor’s degree majoring in Finance, Economics, Statistics and applied mathematics with Second Class upper level.
  • Minimum of 5-years’ experience in compliance, internal controls role in the banking industry.
  • Having mathematical analytics is an added advantage.
  • Excellent understanding of the bank operations and credit functionalities.
  • Proven ability to analyse complex business issues and identify, design and implement eective practical recommendations.
  • Able to operate in a performance driven organization.
  • Knowledge and understanding of risk control arrangements.

  • Knowledge of regulatory environment and key regulatory regimes
  • Knowledge of best practice risk management and governance frameworks, methodology, and emerging practice
  • Critical thinking and Problem-solving skills with the ability to analyse complex information to identify the key issue/action and drive resolution.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail & interpersonal skills
  • Excellent and eective communication skills, both orally and in writing
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret vast amounts of performance data
