HR MANAGER, SHARED SERVICES
Position Overview
The HR Manager, Shared Services will play a critical role in overseeing the daily operations of the Human Resources Shared Services function. This includes managing HR processes such as employee onboarding, benets administration, payroll support, HRIS systems and other key HR services. The HR Manager will also drive continuous improvement initiatives, ensure compliance with HR policies and employment laws, and collaborate with HR Business Partners and business leadership to deliver high-quality HR services to employees across Equity Bank Rwanda PLC.
Key Responsibilities:
1. HR Shared Services Management:
- Lead unit to deliver HR support across various functions: onboarding, benets, payroll, HRIS, sta record creation and regular maintenance, HR Analytics and automation, HR vendors, reporting and more • Ensure the ecient and accurate execution of HR processes, focusing on improving service delivery and overall employee experience
- Continuously assess and optimize HR service delivery processes to enhance eciency, reduce costs and improve responsiveness
2. Process Improvement & Efficiency:
- Identify opportunities to streamline and automate HR processes and workows, leveraging technology to drive eciency (e.g., through HRIS, self-service platforms, etc.).
- Develop and implement best practices to ensure consistency and accuracy in service delivery across all HR processes.
- Support the implementation of HR systems and tools that enhance productivity and service quality
- Ensure cost eciency and value for money at every department’s level
3. Employee Support & HR Service Delivery:
- Serve as a point of contact for employees and managers regarding HR-related inquiries, providing timely and accurate guidance on HR policies, procedures, and programs.
- Address and resolve HR service issues and escalations, ensuring that services are delivered in a customer-centric and ecient manner.
- Collaborate with HR Business Partners and other departments to address complex employee relations issues and HR initiatives.
4. Compliance & Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with regulator, state, and local employment laws and regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records related to employee data, benets, and HR transactions, ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
- Partner with legal and compliance teams to stay informed of any changes in HR-related laws and regulations, and ensure timely implementation of updates.
- Thorough understanding of payroll-related tax law and compliance requirements
5. HR Technology & Systems Oversight:
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of HRIS platforms, ensuring data integrity and user adoption.
- Coordinate with IT to troubleshoot HR system issues and implement upgrades or changes to systems.
- Analyze HR metrics and reporting to assess the effectiveness of HR programs, identify trends, and recommend improvements.
6. Training & Development:
- Train and mentor the HR Shared Services team, ensuring they have the necessary knowledge and resources to perform their duties eectively.
- Provide ongoing support for the development of HR team members, promoting continuous learning and growth in HR best practices.
- Assist in the development and delivery of training programs to enhance employee and manager understanding of HR policies and processes.
7. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with other HR functions (Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, Compensation & Benets) to ensure alignment and consistency in HR service delivery.
- Partner with business leaders and departments to ensure that HR services meet the evolving needs of the organization.
- Provide insights and recommendations to improve the HR shared services strategy and support business objectives.
Qualifications Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration or Human Resources
- HR certifications such as SHRM-CP, or equivalent (preferred)
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in Human Resources, with at least 2 years in an HR shared services or HR operations leadership role.
- Demonstrated experience managing HR processes such as onboarding, benets administration, payroll, and employee relations.
- Experience with HRIS systems and other HR technologies.
Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate, mentor, and develop sta.
- Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and conict resolution skills.
- In-depth knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, and HR-related compliance requirements.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present information clearly to all levels of the organization.
- Procient in Microsoft Oce Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and HRIS software.

- This position operates in a professional oce environment with options for hybrid/remote work, based on business needs and organizational policies.
- Occasional travel may be required for team meetings or other HR-related activities.
