We are seeking to hire a qualified, dedicated and experienced “PHYSICAL and MENTAL WELLBEING SPECIALIST” to be based in Kigali headquarter. The jobholder reports to the Director of Programs.

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION

 The Physical and Mental Wellbeing Specialist provides country-level technical support to strengthen the quality and integration of physical and mental wellbeing across FH Rwanda programs. The position provides technical guidance, coaching, training, and mentorship to program teams and partners in the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of culturally appropriate and evidence-informed interventions that promote holistic wellbeing among children, adolescents, families, and communities.

The Specialist also contributes to program learning, innovation, evidence generation, partnership development, and resource mobilization, while ensuring alignment with FH's Re-IMAGINE journey, UNLOCK Program Model, PMWB Technical Programme Approach, Systems Practice framework, and relevant national priorities.

  • Proficiency in Google platforms, Microsoft Office products, and virtual technologies such as Skype and/or Zoom

ResponsibilitiesDemand Driven Technical Leadership

  • Support the design and planning of Physical and Mental Wellbeing programs and interventions in alignment with FH technical approaches and relevant national standards.
  • Develop and adapt technical materials, tools, guidance, and knowledge products to support quality PMWB programming.
  • Provide technical input to program teams to ensure interventions are evidence-informed, culturally appropriate, and responsive to community needs

Support Program Delivery for Professional Excellence

  • Provide technical guidance to program teams to ensure clear understanding and quality implementation of PMWB interventions at facility and community levels.
  • Coach and mentor staff and partners to identify and address barriers to access, service delivery gaps, and community health system challenges.
  • Support the development and implementation of appropriate facility- and community-based strategies to improve access to quality, responsive, and client-centered health and wellbeing services.
  • Provide technical backstopping to program delivery manager to ensure activities are implemented effectively, on time, and in accordance with agreed quality standards.

Partnerships and Collaboration

  • Provide technical mentoring and capacity building to staff, partners, and relevant stakeholders in Physical and Mental Wellbeing.
  • Support the development of concept notes, proposals, grant applications, and other funding opportunities related to Physical and Mental Wellbeing.
  • Identify and support strategic partnerships and collaboration opportunities that strengthen program quality and resource mobilization.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with government institutions, health facilities, NGOs, communities, private sector, academia, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Work proactively and collaboratively with FH Global and Country level programs, technical teams to identify new PMWB project opportunities, cultivate donor/partner relationships and secure new and continued funding
  • Represent FH Rwanda in relevant technical working groups, policy forums, universities, and stakeholder engagements to promote learning, collaboration, and evidence-based wellbeing programming.
  • Support the sharing of FH Rwanda’s learning, achievements, and evidence on Physical and Mental Wellbeing programming.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Create Evidence-Based Knowledge Assets

  • Contribute to research, innovation, and learning activities related to Physical and Mental Wellbeing.
  • Support the development and use of appropriate monitoring, evaluation, and learning frameworks and indicators.
  • Document promising practices, lessons learned, innovations, and scalable approaches from FH Rwanda programs.
  • Develop and adapt knowledge products, technical tools, case studies, and learning briefs to support program improvement and knowledge sharing.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum bachelor's degree in public health or related field.
  • At least 7 years of relevant experience in health, mental health, physical wellbeing, or community health programming.
  • Proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing health and wellbeing programs involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience working with government institutions, health professionals, NGOs, communities, and other partners.
  • Demonstrated experience in training, coaching, and providing technical support to staff and partners.
  • Experience in program quality, monitoring and evaluation, research, or learning is an advantage.
  • Experience in proposal development, resource mobilization, or donor-funded programs is an advantage.
  • Experience in a Christian/non-profit organization is an advantage.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to FH Rwanda program locations as required

OTHER ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • A vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ, a Christian commitment to serving the poor, and full agreement with FH’s Christian beliefs.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams, with strong skills in mentorship, performance management, and strategic planning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of Physical and Mental Wellbeing models, program coordination, and the importance of value exchange in stakeholder relations.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements related to donor relations and international development.
