1. Background

The Rwanda Academy of Finance (RAF), the professional training wing of the Rwanda Bankers’ Association (RBA), is seeking to recruit experienced training experts to deliver specialized modules under its RAF 1 and RAF 2 Programs. These programs are designed to equip entry-level and mid-level banking professionals with practical and industry-relevant skills.

2. Objective

To engage subject-matter experts with a strong banking background to facilitate professional modules in line with the curriculum of RAF 1 and RAF 2, ensuring delivery of high-quality, practical, and up-to-date training.

3. Modules Requiring Experts

RAF 1 Modules:

• Bank Organization & Banking Activity
• Selling Financial Services
• Capital Market
• Loans to Customers
• Risk Management in Banking
• Back Office Operations
• Bank Accounts & Payment Services
• Company Accountancy for Non-Accountants
• Anti-Money Laundering: AML & KYC

RAF 2 Modules:

• Marketing of Financial Services (specific for banks)
• E-Commerce and Electronic Banking
• Branch Performance Management
• Asset-Liability Management
• Legal Aspects in Banking & Business
• Trade Finance
• Internal Auditing & Risk Assessment for Banks
• Off-Balance Sheet Financing
• Credit Assessment and Cashflow Management
• AML-CTF & Financing of Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction

4. Key Responsibilities

• Design and deliver interactive training sessions tailored to each module.
• Prepare training materials and participant handouts aligned with RAF’s learning objectives.
• Contribute to the annual programme review to ensure content is up-to-date, valid, relevant, and reflects current and future trends in the banking and financial world, whilst giving consideration to pedagogical approaches suited for scalable learning.
• Assess learning outcomes through practical exercises, case studies, and group work.
• Provide a final report detailing training evaluation, participant performance, and recommendations.
• Work closely with the RAF Program Manager to align content with banking sector needs

5. Required Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in banking, with at least 5 years at a managerial level.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a trainer or facilitator in a banking, finance, or business training institution.
• Master’s degree in Finance, Banking, Economics, Business Administration, Law, or any related and relevant discipline to the assigned module (be ready to have a Rwandan Equivalence if the qualification is not from a Rwandan institution) in relevant fields.
• Proven expertise and deep understanding of the module topic (e.g., Capital Markets, Trade Finance, E-Banking, etc.).
• Strong facilitation, interpersonal, and presentation skills, and excellent communication skills (oral and written communication).
• Prior experience with adult learning or professional education and crafting learning outcomes, class activities, and assessments is an added advantage.

6. Duration and Modality

• Training sessions will be scheduled based on RAF’s annual calendar,
• Delivery mode may be in-person or hybrid, depending on RAF arrangements and participants’ availability.

7. Evaluation Criteria

• Relevant experience and banking industry exposure (40%)
• Training experience and facilitation skills (30%)
• Academic background (20%)
• Clarity and structure of training methodology (10%)
