ECOLE PRIMAIRE L’HERITAGE is a privately owned school having its Head Office at Kicukiro District, Gahanga Sector, Karembure Cell, Bigo Village. The School Board of Directors is searching for a motivated and qualified Candidate who will be The School Principal upon successful evaluation by the Board.

School Principal’s Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Manages all school staff (Academic, Administrative as well as short term consultants as may deem appropriate)
  • Assigning tasks and coordinating school schedules
  • Observing and overseeing job performance related to school business
  • Mentoring and arranging professional development opportunities
  • Developing and implementing curriculum standards
  • Meeting with parents discussing student progress and behavior
  • Managing and directing tasks related to Disciplining and counseling students
  • Proposing and managing the approved school budget
  • Overseeing capital projects and maintenance

  • Managing and directing Procuring school supplies
  • Responsible for Arranging and maintaining school security
  • Gathering standardized testing and other reporting data to present to the board
  • Executing national policies as directed by the competent authorities and School Board of Directors (SBD).
  • Inspiring students and staff toward a shared vision of school activities
  • Setting high ethical and performance standards for the school
  • Developing strong community/stakeholders’ partnerships and relationships
  • Communicate with parents, regulatory bodies and the public in consultation with the School Board
  • Any other relevant assignment as may be directed by the School Board.

Skills and Qualifications Required for School Principal 

Being a principal is being a leader. No one expects the principal to accomplish the school’s mission alone. Instead, he/she is the planner, the motivator, the driving force behind the team that gets it all done.

The candidate shall possess the following:

  • Strong interpersonal relation, Good written and strategic communication skills
  • Solid understanding of psychology and social and developmental behavior
  • Effective training, development, and mentoring
  • Planning and coordination skills

  • The basics of educational finance and accounting
  • A degree of Arts in Educational Leadership, a degree in Educational Administration, or Education in Leadership and/or in Educational Administration.
  • Fluence in both English and French languages

Reporting:

The School Principal shall be reporting to the School Board of Directors per Board’s guidance and approved school calendar.
