About the position

The Gender, Safeguarding, and Inclusion Lead will provide strategic and technical leadership to ensure that Resonate’s programs, operations, and partnerships are inclusive, equitable, safe, and aligned with best practices in child and vulnerable adult safe guarding. This role strengthens organizational systems and staff capacities to promote gender equity, prevent harm, and foster a safe and respectful environment for all participants, staff, and partners. The role also ensures compliance with safeguarding standards, promotes Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GESI) principles, and builds staff capacity to uphold these values.

Responsibilities

Gender and Inclusion Strategy and Practice

  • Provide strategic leadership on gender equality, safeguarding, and inclusion. Ensure compliance with national and international safeguarding standards
  • Embed Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) principles across organizational programs and projects
  • Develop and implement a practical inclusion strategy with measurable goals that reflect Resonate’s values and mission
  • Guide programs and partners to ensure equitable participation of diverse groups, especially marginalized women and girls
  • Regularly assess programs for barriers to inclusion and recommend adjustments

  • Integrate inclusive practices into program design, facilitation, and feedback systems
  • Foster a culture of openness, accountability, and inclusion across the organization
  • Train and support staff and partners on gender, safeguarding, and inclusion practices, including but not limited to discussion spaces and reflection sessions on inclusion, safety, and power dynamics
  • Provide any other support as needed

Safeguarding Systems and Implementation

  • Lead the development, implementation, and review of safeguarding policies, protocols, and reporting mechanisms
  • Train staff, facilitators, and partners on safeguarding policies and procedures
  • Act as the safeguarding focal point and lead case management for any reported incidents, following confidentiality, ethical, and legal standards
  • Ensure all partnerships and activities meet minimum safeguarding standards and conduct risk assessments where needed

Monitoring, Reporting, and Learning

  • Monitor and report on inclusion and safeguarding indicators across programs and operations
  • Document lessons learned and lead periodic reviews to adapt approaches
  • Prepare internal and donor-facing reports related to safeguarding and inclusion work
  • Report any safeguarding concerns promptly in line with organizational policy and contribute to case reviews as needed
  • Any other related duties assigned by the supervisor

Required skills and experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Gender Studies, Human Rights, International Development, or related field
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in gender, safeguarding, and inclusion roles
  • Relevant certification or training in safeguarding and/or gender inclusion is an added advantage
  • Experience working in NGOs or international development projects
  • Expertise in safeguarding frameworks and gender-transformative approaches
  • Strong facilitation and training skills

  • Ability to influence and collaborate across diverse teams
  • Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills
  • Ability to influence and support multiple stakeholders across organizations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Planning and organizational skills
  • Report writing and presentation skills
