Are you a hands-on mechanical professional with experience maintaining building mechanical systems? The Rwanda Social Security Board (RSSB) is looking for a Mechanical Technician to join its Property Management and Performance team.

The Mechanical Technician will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical systems and equipment including HVAC systems, air conditioners, exhaust fans, ventilation systems, water heaters, heat pumps, and automated gates and doors. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of RSSB facilities.

Reporting directly to the Lead Maintenance, the Mechanical Technician will support operational excellence through preventive and corrective maintenance activities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Install, assemble, and maintain mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment.
  • Diagnose faults and carry out repairs efficiently.
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments safely.
  • Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Document maintenance activities and report issues to supervisors.
  • Follow workplace safety procedures and organizational policies.
  • Support operational teams as required.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by management.

Key Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate must have at least:

  • Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Domestic Mechanics, or a related field.
  • Between one (1) and five (5) years of relevant experience as a Mechanical Technician or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, air conditioners, ventilation systems, exhaust fans, water heaters, heat pumps, and automated mechanical systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems will be an added advantage.
