Mission/Core purpose of the Job
The Specialist, Financial Planning & Budgeting is responsible for supporting the end-to-end financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting cycle. The role provides accurate, timely, and insightful financial analysis to support decision-making, business performance management, and the achievement of strategic and operational objectives.
Key Performance Areas
- Coordinate and support the preparation of annual budgets, latest estimates (LEs), and rolling forecasts across departments and business units.
- Consolidate inputs from business owners and translate operational plans into financial projections.
- Develop, maintain, and update budget and forecast templates, guidelines, and timelines.
- Ensure budgets are aligned with strategic priorities, Group guidance, and approved assumptions.
- Support scenario planning and sensitivity analysis for revenue, cost, EBITDA, and CapEx.
- Track budget loading and approvals in the financial planning system.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of financial performance, identifying trends, drivers, and key insights.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc financial analyses to support business reviews.
- Support the preparation of long-range plans (3–5 year strategic plans).
- Analyse revenue, cost, margin, and profitability by product, segment, and channel.
- Provide insights and recommendations to improve financial performance
- Prepare accurate and timely management reports, dashboards, and executive presentations.
- Consolidate financial performance across business units and report against budget, forecast, and prior periods.
- Develop and maintain standard reporting packs for monthly performance reviews.
- Ensure consistency of reporting metrics, definitions, and KPIs across the organization.
- Respond to ad-hoc reporting requests from leadership, Group, and external stakeholders
- Perform detailed variance analysis of actuals vs. budget, forecast, and prior periods.
- Investigate material variances and provide commentary on root causes.
- Highlight risks, opportunities, and required corrective actions to management.
- Provide narrative insights that connect financial outcomes to operational performance.
- Support root cause analysis on cost overruns, revenue shortfalls, or margin pressure
- Build and maintain financial models for business planning, scenarios, and decision support.
- Develop business case models for new products, projects, and investments.
- Perform NPV, IRR, payback, and ROI analysis on capital projects and strategic initiatives.
- Validate assumptions, sensitivities, and outputs of financial models.
Experience
- Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant experience in FP&A, budgeting, management reporting, or financial analysis (essential).
- Demonstrable experience in end-to-end budgeting and forecasting cycles.
- Experience in a large corporate, multinational, or Big-4 advisory environment (preferred).
Education Background
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related discipline (essential).
- Professional certification — CIMA, ACCA, CPA, CA, or equivalent (strongly preferred).
- Postgraduate qualification (e.g., MBA, master’s in finance) is an added advantage.
- Certifications in financial modelling, data analytics, or EPM tools (advantageous).
