Mission/Core purpose of the Job

The Tax & TP Management Specialist is responsible for ensuring full compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations, accurate and timely tax reporting, and effective tax risk management. The role supports the organization in optimizing its tax position while maintaining strong relationships with tax authorities and ensuring timely fulfillment of all tax obligations.

Key Performance Areas

  • Prepare and file all tax returns (VAT, Corporate Income Tax, PAYE, Withholding Tax, Excise, and any other applicable taxes) accurately and within statutory deadlines.
  • Ensure full compliance with applicable tax laws and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain proper documentation and audit trails to support all tax filings.
  • Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess their impact on the business.
  • Prepare and submit statutory tax declarations, schedules, and supporting workings.
  • Manage tax payments and refunds, ensuring accurate cash-flow forecasting for tax obligations
  • Prepare monthly and annual tax provisions and ensure accurate posting in the general ledger.
  • Perform regular reconciliations of tax accounts and promptly resolve any discrepancies.
  • Support financial reporting by providing accurate tax balances and disclosures.
  • Prepare current and deferred tax computations in line with applicable accounting standards (IAS 12 / IFRS).
  • Support the preparation, maintenance, and updating of transfer pricing documentation (Master File, Local File, Country-by-Country Reporting where applicable).
  • Ensure intercompany transactions are appropriately priced, documented, and aligned with the arm’s length principle.
  • Coordinate with group tax and shared service centres on TP-related queries and benchmarking.
  • Monitor TP risks and support remediation actions where needed.

  • Assist in TP audits, dispute resolution, and Advance Pricing Agreement (APA) processes where applicable.
  • Provide tax guidance to internal stakeholders on transactions, contracts, and new business initiatives.
  • Advise on the tax implications of business decisions to enhance tax efficiency and compliance.
  • Support finance, procurement, and commercial teams on tax-related matters.
  • Review supplier and customer contracts for tax exposure (withholding tax, VAT treatment, permanent establishment risk, etc.).
  • Serve as the primary point of contact during tax audits and assessments.
  • Prepare and coordinate responses to queries from tax authorities.
  • Manage tax audits and ensure timely resolution of findings.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate potential tax risks.
  • Maintain a tax risk register and track resolution of audit findings and contingent liabilities.
  • Develop and implement robust internal controls over tax processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve tax efficiency and strengthen compliance processes.
  • Support automation initiatives and system enhancements related to tax reporting.
  • Document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all recurring tax processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement and digitization of tax workflows.
  • Liaise with tax authorities, external auditors, and consultants.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Represent the company professionally in tax-related forums and industry meetings.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant experience in tax compliance, reporting, or advisory (essential).
  • Demonstrable experience preparing and filing direct and indirect tax returns.
  • Experience working in a Big-4 firm, large corporate tax department, or multinational environment (preferred).

Education Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Law, or a related discipline (essential).
  • Professional certification in tax or accounting — e.g., CPA, ACCA, CA, CTA, or equivalent (strongly preferred).
  • Postgraduate qualification in Taxation or related field (added advantage).
